Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memory is of finding a piano hidden in the attic of her home, then becoming enthralled by the sounds it produced. Jan Oystein Aksnes, her parents May Britt Aksnes, and Jan Oystein Aksnes, encouraged their daughter to learn music more as a hobby than a profession. Thus, she began her own compositions. She has cited renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan for inspiration, as well as a love for Bjork's style. Her mother had said that her songs can not only aid in her efforts to get noticed, and also inspire others to see their significance within the global community and see what can be done with them She decided to start singing in public. She began playing the piano as her primary instrument when she was six, and she started making music at the age of nine. It wasn't until her 14th birthday when she shared her story with her parents. Aurora wasn't a childhood dream. She says she just likes writing songs. Music to her is the best method to experience anything.
